YMCA Youth Cresset is an open access youth project in Bretton for young people aged 11-18 offering a range of activities at the space located in the Cresset.
YMCA Youth Cresset is a safe space for young people to engage in positive activities, socialise, and build new skills. As well as this, there will also be a focus on the creative arts as part of the programme of works offered by the YMCA Youth Cresset.
The impact of taking part in creative activities can not be underestimated. For young people, performing arts can positively impact their education, personal development and mental wellbeing.

Introduction to Clay Sculpture Making
Time: 2pm – 4pm at YMCA Youth Cresset

Led by local visual Artist Emily Bowers.
Learn how to build your own clay sculpture from scratch!
This session is all about exploring what you can make with clay, what inspires you, and the basics of sculpture.
Emily Bowers is a visual artist based in Stamford who is inspired by nature in most of her work. She also has experience working with youth and community groups, including with YMCA Youth Cresset last year designing and painting our mural.

Creative Trip to Westraven Community Garden

Led by local visual Artist Emily Bowers.
Explore the community garden right on your doorstep and find something that inspires you there.
Emily will be leading us to artistically explore the garden through a series of short creative activities. There will also be the chance to learn about the garden from the Westraven team.
We will be taking taxis from The Cresset to the garden.

Clay Sculpture Making and Painting
Time: 2pm – 4pm at YMCA Youth Cresset
Details
Led by local visual Artist Emily Bowers.
Using skills built with Emily in our previous sessions, work in groups to build and paint a larger clay sculpture inspired by the nature at Westraven community garden.
There will also be the chance to make smaller sculptures that can be taken home at the end of the session.

YMCA Youth Listening Event
Time: 12:00pm – 2:00pm

This event marks the end of our Youth Voice Project, which we’ve been working towards since January this year.
If your young person has taken part in any of our youth activities during this time, we would love to have them in attendance at this event.
At this event, young people will be able to present their ideas and questions to members of local authority.
This is their chance to makes their voices heard!

Taylormania
Time: 7:30pm – 10:00pm at The Cresset

Due to popular request, we are taking 10 young people to Taylormania at The Cresset.
This is an evening concert at The Cresset and we will be there with members of the public.
All young people must be dropped off and collected by parents for this event.

Form your own band and learn the basics of rock music with Rock Steady.
Rock Steady deliver music classes in a variety of settings, including schools and youth clubs.
