Family Work

Please see below for an update on our Childcare services regarding COVID-19:

Our YMCA Childcare settings are now operating at their full hours again and we would like to say ‘thank you’ to everyone that has supported us throughout this difficult time.

As an organisation we continue to follow the Governments guidelines which include ensuring we maintain the highest safety and hygiene practices to prevent the spread of infection with Covid-19. We have considered our practice and have carried out thorough Risk Assessments and implemented new Operational Procedures in line with the Government Guidance to ensure that we provide the most effective measures to ensure the children and staff’s health and safety are met appropriately. Our Operational Procedures are under continual review as guidance changes.

After reviewing the latest Government guidelines and our site specific Operational Procedures, we have had to temporarily pause the running of our Breakfast and Afterschool clubs at YMCA Childcare St. Margaret’s Road, Lowestoft, and YMCA Childcare Exning Road, Newmarket. Once we feel we are able to operate the Breakfast and Afterschool clubs again we will contact our existing families to inform them.

For our returning, new and prospective families, we understand that this is an anxious time for everyone, and you may have lots of questions about how we can care for your child safely. Please read our ‘Welcome back to YMCA Childcare’ booklet (568KB, PDF) to understand the safety measures we have put into place to protect our families and staff during this time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your Childcare Manager, or email

We would like to thank you for your co-operation and understanding during these difficult times, it is greatly appreciated. And we are looking forward to welcoming you back.”

Amanda Spence – Childcare Programme Manager

Being part of a healthy, stable family gives a young person the best start in life. Across YMCA Trinity Group we offer a range of support to families including six fully operational childcare settings providing places for 238 children on a daily basis.

To meet growing demand, we continue to invest in mental health training and interventions, offering much needed support to students and teachers in schools and colleges.

Our youth work offer has continued to expand across YMCA Trinity Group, operating in both community venues and schools. We currently offer youth support in 33 schools and 12 venues, with a mobile van providing additional support to families and young people where it is most needed, particularly during school holidays.
