Timestop recently hosted a series of Ramadan activities to bring residents together, foster a sense of community, and teach independence. The events were organised by Afsana, a dedicated staff member who has been with the company for six years.
Afsana’s journey at the YMCA has been marked by her commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. She shared her experiences, saying:
“Working at the YMCA for the past six years has been an incredible journey. I’ve taken on three different roles, each one allowing me to support residents and make a positive impact.
What makes this place truly special is the diversity. With residents from different backgrounds and a team that reflects that diversity, it creates a genuine sense of understanding and community. It makes my job easier—and a lot more enjoyable—when we can connect with those we support on a personal level.
One of my favorite parts of the role is organizing activities and events. From social gatherings to cultural and religious celebrations like Christmas and Ramadan, I enjoy creating memorable experiences that bring people together. Seeing the joy and connection these events foster is truly rewarding.
YMCA has not only been a great place to work but also a place where I’ve grown both personally and professionally. Six years, three roles, and countless unforgettable moments later, I’m proud to be part of this amazing team.”
During Ramadan, Afsana organised cooking and communal meals. These events not only provided an opportunity for residents to share meals and break their fasts together but also helped them learn new skills and gain independence.
Afsana’s efforts during Ramadan exemplify the YMCA’s mission to support and empower residents. By organizing these activities, she has helped create a nurturing environment where residents can connect, learn, and grow together. Her dedication and passion for her work continue to make a positive impact on the lives of those she supports.
Well Done!
