The sun was shining and spirits were high as YMCA Wellington Street in Ipswich hosted a vibrant Sports Day for our UASC (Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children) residents. The event brought together young people from across the community for an afternoon of friendly competition, laughter, and connection.
From basketball games to 3 legged races, every activity was met with enthusiasm and energy. Residents showed off their skills, cheered each other on, and embraced the joy of teamwork. It wasn’t just about winning—it was about coming together, trying something new, and celebrating each other’s efforts.
What made the day truly special was the sense of unity. The atmosphere was electric, filled with encouragement and smiles.
Events like these are a powerful reminder of the role sport plays in building confidence, fostering friendships, and creating a sense of belonging. We’re proud of every participant and grateful to the staff and volunteers who made it all happen.
