COVID-19 update:

We are committed to safeguarding the wellbeing of all of our clients, residents and staff. In light of the latest Government guidance in relation to COVID-19, we would like to reassure you that we are working hard to keep our services going as far as we can.

Please see below for an update on our Childcare services:

Childcare Update

As you may already know, some of our YMCA Childcare settings have been able to remain open in order to provide childcare for children with key worker parents and for other children as specified by the Government. The good news is the government has now confirmed that it is safe to welcome more children back to YMCA Childcare.

As an organisation we continue to follow the Governments guidelines which include ensuring we maintain the highest safety and hygiene practices to prevent the spread of infection with Covid-19. We have considered our practice and have carried out thorough Risk Assessments and implemented new Operational Procedures in line with the Government Guidance to ensure that we provide the most effective measures to ensure the children and staff’s health and safety are met appropriately.

As we begin to introduce more children back to our settings, we are still operating under slightly different opening hours. The list of the sites, opening hours and ages are as follows:

  • YMCA Childcare St. Margaret’s Road, Lowestoft: 8.30am – 4pm (0-12 years)
  • YMCA Childcare Providence, Ipswich: 8.30am – 5pm (0-12 years)
  • YMCA Childcare Exning Road, Newmarket: 8.30am – 4.30pm (0-12 years)
  • YMCA Childcare Blinco Grove, Cambridge: 8.30am – 4.30pm (0-5 years)
  • YMCA Childcare Grundisburgh, Ipswich: 9am – 3pm (2-5 years)
  • YMCA Childcare Water Lane, Lowestoft: Remains closed (Children can attend YMCA Childcare St. Margaret’s, Lowestoft)

We understand that this is an anxious time for everyone, and you may have lots of questions about how we can care for your child safely. So please read our ‘Welcome back to YMCA Childcare’ booklet to understand the safety measures we are putting into place to protect our families and staff during this time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your Childcare Manger, or email

We would like to thank you for your co-operation and understanding during these difficult times, it is greatly appreciated. And we are looking forward to welcoming you back.

Regarding our gyms and fitness classes:

Following government guidance, all of our YMCA Trinity Group gyms will be closed after Friday 20 March until further notice.

We also understand many members may wish to cancel or suspend their memberships at this time. We would love it if you would continue to support YMCA Gym, as the fees you pay will allow the charity to go on supporting young and vulnerable people in our community.

Visit our Facebook pages for some online classes and tips for exercising at home for those who are self isolating:

YMCA Trinity Group is part of a federation of over 116 YMCAs across England and Wales. Our vision is to help create supportive, inclusive and transforming communities where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.

Inspiring young lives since 1852.
