Train the Trainer – Mental Health Champions

Every organisation can benefit from having a Mental health Champion – an individual who has a good foundation of mental health and is able to share that with the organisation as a whole. Organisations that build a whole setting understanding of the issues that young people face are better able to support them to develop positive mental health. Furthermore developing staff knowledge and skills in these areas contribute to issues being identified and responded to early on. This train the trainer course will equip staff to deliver a series of modules that reflect significant aspects of young people’s lives and how they interact with their mental health. We recommend that all settings who attend this course, arrange for an Introduction to Mental Health (or a similar training) to be delivered to all staff before cascading the training in this portfolio of courses.

This three day course begins with our Introduction to Mental Health course, creating a solid foundation of learning from which they can deliver the subsequent modules. The training then explores the content of the following 7 modules (also available as separate training sessions) Building Resilience, Anxiety and Depression, Self-Harm and suicide awareness, Risk-Taking Behaviour, Body Confidence, Substance Misuse and Sexual Health). The 3 days are usually spread over six weeks, to enable time for delegates to consolidate learning and consider how to apply their learning to their setting. On this training, delegates will learn how to deliver the module in their own setting.

This package includes: Online access to presentations, Trainer notes and other resources; Annual refresher training to keep you updated; Peer support session to discuss and reflect on delivery; Access to the Mental Health Training Team for support and any queries you may have.
