Hats for Homeless

Know how to knit?

We are looking for people who can spare some time to knit a hat for the homeless this winter. Any type of knit is great, donations of knitted squares for blankets are also welcome.

Don’t know how to knit?

Why not learn?

We have a suggestion for a pattern to help you to Knit a hat and a YouTube video for crocheting a hat which some find easier than learning to knit.

We are also excepting old coats, jumpers, blankets, sleeping bags, hats, scarves and gloves.

Please bring any donations you may have to your local YMCA or donation station.

Donation Stations include

  • Sew Creative, Cambridge
  • BBC Radio Suffolk, Ipswich

The hats that were donated to the Bury St Edmunds site were given to Bury Drop In to distribute.

We have already taken some of the donations that were given to BBC Radio Suffolk to Tiffers, The Bus Shelter based in Ipswich.

Over 100 items were donated in Lowestoft! These are being given to the Salvation Army to give out at their Christmas Meal.
