The role of an Assistant Accommodation Project Worker (AAPW) is to assist in the delivery of practical support to vulnerable homeless people enabling them to maintain their licences in the hostel through participation in meaningful activities such as education, training or employment and resettle to appropriate accommodation in the community.
AAPW’s assist in the development of skills necessary for independent living such as cooking, budgeting, cleaning and ironing as per a young person’s care plan, to enable them to maintain their own accommodation after resettlement.
AAPW’s interact with our residents to encourage an appropriate standard of behaviour and ensure that an appropriate living environment is maintained. Maintaining high standards of supervision whist creating a warm, caring and homely environment.
Skills and Experience
In summary, the successful applicant will have the following qualities:
- Experience of working with young people, although not necessarily in a housing context
- A good understanding of ‘partnership’ working with external agencies
- Ability to write reports, keep case notes, client records and the ability to make and maintain excellent liaison with other agencies
- Ability to work flexibly and under pressure within a reactive environment

The salary for this role is £4,664 per year (£8.96 per hour).
