Foodbanker Volunteer

YMCA are looking for volunteers to collect Tesco FareShare food donations each week.

A little time each week to collect and process food donations to be used in our Supported Housing for 16 – 25 year olds, you enable us to achieve our mission of supporting young lives to realise their full potential.

Time commitment 8pm – 9pm
Location Bury St Edmunds (Tuesday) and Ipswich (Wednesday)

Your role as a Foodbanker

Each week, on a rota with other volunteers, you will be asked to collect food from Tesco to bring back to YMCA.

You would deliver the food to our kitchen at 2 Wellington Street, Ipswich (putting the food away in the chiller when you get there) or to our staff at 56 Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable people that are able to drive.

We’re looking for individuals who are non-judgemental, team players, and self-aware with the ability to reflect openly and intelligently on your working practice.

 

Ipswich

Food collection from Tesco Copdock at 8.30pm each Wednesday.

Food delivery to our kitchen at 2 Wellington Street, Ipswich.

We have a YMCA van that you could collect at 8pm from YMCA along with a special chiller box, drive to Tesco Copdock to collect food at 8.30pm and then return to YMCA with the donations and unload.

You would collect ambient food (bakery, fresh produce) and chilled foods (that would need to be put straight in our chiller).

 

Bury St Edmunds

Food collection from Tesco Bury St Edmunds at 8.30pm each Tuesday.

You would deliver the food to our Accommodation staff at 56 Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds.

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable people that are able to drive.

In Bury St Edmunds, you would collect the food in your own car.

You would collect ambient food – bakery and fresh produce.
